My name is Ryan Paul, I love to create cool stuff. Take a chance to look around.
Below you’ll see a a trailer from one the big projects I worked on.
More is on the way:
“Wendover: Out On the Edge” is an hour-length historical documentary I helped produce and edit. It was a great project about the past of Wendover, UT. I definitely recommend checking it out if you have an interest in World War II, the height of the power of the railroad, and the rise of the automobile and the modern highway.
I worked on this production as an associate in my last full year of school from start to finish over a period of 8 months. I conceptualized and pitched the initial concept to my peers and a Professor from the University of Utah Mass Communication. We then presented it to KUED, the local PBS affiliate in Salt Lake City, and began pre-production in February. I worked on the script and helped outline the overall story that we wanted to tell. We completed shooting the entire production in April, which involved staying in Wendover for over a week. We ended up eating a lot of food at casino buffets. After we had finished there were over 25 interviews and we had shot about 20 hours of b-roll.
From April to November we completed post-production and worked to make it ready for broadcast. I was the senior editor and oversaw the entirety of the editing process. After months of hard work and effort put in by the entire team, it aired in November 2010.
Overall I had a fantastic experience working on this project and I hope I have the chance to work on something like it again.
